What you will do

• Design and build high-throughput backend services for real-time risk scoring and monitoring workflows.
• Develop personalised intelligence and blockchain views in collaboration with data engineering.
• Build and maintain sanctions reporting infrastructure for regulators and compliance teams.
• Identify and resolve performance and reliability bottlenecks to scale the platform for enterprise customers.
• Drive architectural decisions and take technical ownership of complex system areas.
• Mentor engineers and conduct code reviews to raise the overall technical quality of the team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Proven experience with event-driven, streaming, or queue-backed architectures (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, SQS).
• Solid understanding of distributed systems trade-offs regarding consistency, availability, and latency.
• Experience with NoSQL and caching technologies.
• Must be based in London for hybrid work.

Nice to have

• Experience with JVM languages such as Java or Scala.
• Familiarity with Redis or similar in-memory data stores for low-latency reads.
• Experience with EVM-compatible blockchains or crypto compliance domains.
• Knowledge of OpenSearch/Elasticsearch index design and schema migrations.
