What you will do

• Architect and design scalable, high-performance payments systems and infrastructure.
• Work closely with third-party payment providers and gateways to integrate them with internal systems.
• Optimize existing systems to resolve bottlenecks and improve scalability and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers within the team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate technical concepts and project updates.
• Engage in hands-on coding to ensure high code quality and maintainability.

Requirements

• Must be based in Melbourne, Australia.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, specifically in scalable system design.
• 2+ years of technical leadership experience in fast-paced environments.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks relevant to backend development.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills for stakeholder collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience building global payments systems for the gaming or entertainment industry.
• Deep knowledge of PCI-DSS compliance in payment systems.
• Experience developing payments fraud systems, including rule engines and chargeback tools.
