Senior Process Engineer - Casting

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; onsite with full-time attendance required. Frequent travel of at least 50% is required. Relocation benefits are not provided, and the selected candidate is responsible for relocation costs.

What you will do

• Develop, test, validate, transfer, and launch casting manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, sequences, and operations.
• Collaborate with Launch, Quality Control, Design, Tooling, technical groups, vendors, and suppliers.
• Support manufacturing validations, build plans, PPAP, equipment installations, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation.
• Analyze casting defects and first-time quality data, using DOE, Red X, and related statistical tools to optimize processes.
• Conduct destructive and non-destructive casting investigations, including leak testing, X-ray, CT, thermal, chemistry, density, and mechanical testing.
• Create process flow diagrams, PCP, PFMEA, TIS, and other technical documentation for production launches.

Requirements

• Full-time onsite work in Warren, Michigan, with frequent travel of at least 50%.
• United States work authorization is required; GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
• At least 2 years of experience with Low Pressure Die Casting, Precision Sand, Semi Permanent Mold, tooling, process, quality, or project management.
• Knowledge of foundry processes, aluminum chemistry, heat treatment, metallurgical processes, machine design, process equipment, tooling, and secondary post-processing.
• A BS degree in engineering, metallurgy, computer science, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Giga or structural castings, injection molds, mechanical properties testing, or aluminum metallurgy.
• Training in Magma, Flow 3D, 3D design software, or problem solving.
• Experience with NX, CATIA, or similar 3D design software.
