What you will do

• Author and review patches for the PostgreSQL core engine (performance, features, bug fixes, security) via pgsql-hackers and Commitfest.
• Maintain open-source and proprietary Postgres extensions, focusing on feature work, performance tuning, and version compatibility.
• Review community patches with high rigor regarding correctness, stability, and coding conventions.
• Engage with the PostgreSQL community through design discussions, annual Commitfests, and conferences.
• Perform root-cause analysis of Postgres issues for customers and convert fixes into upstream patches.
• Improve official and internal documentation for PostgreSQL and extensions.

Requirements

• Strong C programming skills within large, established codebases.
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, including MVCC, query planner/executor, WAL, vacuum, and replication.
• Demonstrated open-source contributions to PostgreSQL or similar database projects (accepted patches or extensions).
• Fluency with Git and the PostgreSQL patch workflow.
• Proficiency in Linux/BSD development environments, including profiling and benchmarking database workloads.

Nice to have

• Established PostgreSQL contribution history.
• Experience authoring or maintaining Postgres extensions (e.g., pgvector, PostGIS).
• Background in distributed systems, storage engines, or query optimization.
• Public talks, papers, or blog posts within the Postgres ecosystem.
