Lead Engineer (Advanced AI Engineering)

Location: Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, London or Manchester, United Kingdom; hybrid work requiring at least two days per week or 40% of working time in the office

Salary: £84,624–£105,780 per year

What you will do

• Explore AI opportunities with engineering colleagues, business stakeholders and team members.
• Evaluate AI methods and technologies through experiments and proof-of-concepts.
• Build operational MVPs for critical AI business challenges.
• Support delivery and adoption of AI solutions across business platforms and engineering teams.
• Contribute hands-on to Agentic AI adoption and production technology solutions.

Requirements

• Proven experience engineering technology solutions in complex environments and supporting production operations.
• Applied AI/ML and GenAI experience, including RAG, tool use, guardrails, evaluation and agents.
• Experience working with agile practices and modern SDLC tooling.
• Understanding of operational and AI risk in regulated environments, including reliability, security, safety and explainability.
• Ability to collaborate on technical direction, mentor colleagues and engage stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from a hirify.global office in Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, London or Manchester, with at least two days per week onsite.

Nice to have

• Experience delivering technology solutions in regulated industries, especially financial services.
• Industry research experience or an advanced degree.
• Experience developing customer-facing platforms at scale.
• Experience partnering with Enterprise Architecture functions.
