TL;DR

Lead Child Welfare Specialist (Child Welfare): Supporting federal child welfare monitoring and improvement efforts through the Child and Family Services Reviews (CFSR) with an accent on state performance evaluation and Program Improvement Plan (PIP) development. Focus on analyzing complex data indicators, facilitating stakeholder collaboration, and ensuring national consistency in monitoring activities.

Location: Remote (US). This position requires approximately 25% travel.

Salary: $67,355 – $114,503

What you will do

  • Assist the Children’s Bureau in implementing CFSR processes in assigned states.
  • Conduct case reviews and provide feedback on state assessments and progress reports.
  • Support states in developing, implementing, and monitoring Program Improvement Plans (PIP).
  • Analyze CFSR data indicators to understand state performance and guide improvement strategies.
  • Facilitate collaboration among federal, state, and tribal partners to ensure system functioning.
  • Develop and revise CFSR-related training materials, manuals, and technical bulletins.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8-12 years of relevant experience in child welfare or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience with CFSR-related child welfare programs.
  • 5 years of experience with CFSR and PIP processes, including federal OSRI application.
  • Ability to pass a federal background check for a position of public trust.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to apply a racial equity lens.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in social work or a related field.
  • Direct experience in administering the CFSR process or similar Quality Assurance processes.
  • Experience working in a federal contracting environment.
  • Experience managing and interpreting public agency administrative child welfare data.
