TL;DR
Sustaining Manufacturing Engineer (MedTech): Managing and improving CNC and robotic manufacturing processes for medical technology products with an accent on process control, qualification, validation, and Lean cost reduction. Focus on developing production standards, integrating automated inspection and data-collection systems, and solving scrap, rework, safety, and process-efficiency challenges.

Location: Austin, Texas, United States. Occasional business travel may be required, generally less than 5%.

What you will do

  • Manage and improve assigned manufacturing processes, sustaining projects, and new product introduction initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain process specifications, operating procedures, process controls, engineering standards, labor standards, routings, bills of materials, and work instructions.
  • Support safe and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and processes, including CNC and robotic equipment.
  • Lead installation, operational, and production qualification activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ, process studies, protocols, and validation reports.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing cost-reduction initiatives and develop integrated process-control solutions using vision systems, laser sensors, gaging, and data collection.
  • Investigate feasibility, scrap, and rework issues and implement corrective and preventive actions with the Quality group.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering, Science, or a related field with 3+ years of experience.
  • 3–4 years of verifiable experience in a CNC manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of medical-device or similar CNC manufacturing process development, QC inspection, and statistical process control.
  • Experience or capability with process monitoring, manufacturing equipment, and production support.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must already have full-time work authorization in the United States and be able to maintain it without employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CAM systems, and multi-axis milling or turning experience.
  • Strong GD&T understanding and Agile PLM experience.
  • Knowledge of secondary finishing processes and cellular manufacturing.
