Principal Engineer (SaaS)

TL;DR

Principal Engineer (SaaS): Designing and leading modernization efforts for inherited systems with an accent on scalability, cloud-native architecture, and the integration of low-code/no-code platforms. Focus on solving complex business problems, establishing technical vision, and mentoring engineering teams to ensure long-term strategic alignment.

Location: Hybrid; must be based in the US and able to work from the Englewood Cliffs, NJ office at least three days per week.

Salary: $170,000 - $200,000

What you will do

• Design and lead modernization of legacy systems to improve speed, scalability, and business value.
• Evaluate and implement SaaS, low-code/no-code, and Gen AI tools to accelerate delivery.
• Collaborate with business and product leaders to align technical solutions with strategic goals.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning.
• Set the overall technical vision and establish engineering practices and standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Expertise in cloud-native architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP), serverless, and event-driven design.
• Proven ability to lead engineering efforts and influence cross-functional teams.
• Experience modernizing legacy systems and integrating them with modern platforms.
• Must be able to contribute from the office in Englewood Cliffs, NJ a minimum of three days per week.

Nice to have

• Full-stack development experience across Backend, Frontend, Cloud, and Infrastructure.
• Familiarity with distributed messaging (Kafka, Kinesis) and caching (Redis, ElastiCache).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in media, entertainment, or fast-paced startup environments.
