What you will do

• Define and defend the editorial vision and voice for all long-form publications to ensure a consistent, high-quality standard.
• Build and manage a comprehensive publishing calendar across essays, films, podcasts, and potentially books.
• Commission and edit work from a global network of world-class writers, photographers, and filmmakers.
• Lead internal storytelling to translate marketing strategy into narratives that connect employees to the company's vision.
• Manage editorial budgets, contracts, freelance operations, and a team of staff editors.
• Collaborate with the Head of Brand Marketing and Design Director to set the company's overall creative direction.

Requirements

• 15+ years in editorial leadership roles with a track record of shipping ambitious long-form work.
• Expert-level editing skills at both the sentence and structural levels.
• Proven ability to run a professional publishing operation, including calendar management and budget oversight.
• Cultural fluency across diverse fields such as journalism, design, art, and technology.
• Experience leading editorial teams and managing external creative partners.
• A strong portfolio of commissioned or created work.

Nice to have

• Direct experience writing or commissioning work regarding technology, science, or AI.
• A developed point of view on how generative AI is changing the publishing landscape.
• Experience launching a publication or owned-media property from scratch.
