Executive Director, Biostatistics

Location: Boston, MA, United States. Hybrid work is available up to two remote days per week, or the role may be performed on-site five days per week.

Salary: $271,600–$407,400 annual base salary, plus potential annual bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Lead statistical functions supporting multiple therapeutic areas and Vertex portfolios.
• Provide methodological and quantitative expertise across development strategies, including novel statistical approaches.
• Oversee statistical support for early- and late-stage clinical development, post-marketing studies, real-world evidence, and reimbursement analyses.
• Drive innovative trial designs to improve efficiency in complex and rapidly changing environments.
• Own or support biostatistics processes, standard operating procedures, training, software, and analytical tools.
• Contribute to the Biostatistics Leadership Team and represent Vertex in industry, academic, and regulatory forums.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics.
• 15 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Expertise in statistical methodology, best practices, and emerging industry trends.
• Experience developing and leading high-performing teams.
• Strong scientific and technical writing, communication, negotiation, and executive-level presentation skills.
• Executive presence, emotional intelligence, adaptability, and change leadership.
