Director, Agent Intelligence (AI)

Location: Boston, MA; hybrid role requiring three days per week in the Boston office, with an on-site option available five days per week

Salary: $216,400–$324,600 annual base salary, plus annual bonus and equity awards

What you will do

• Lead the Agent Intelligence function within Knowledge & Grounding and build reusable foundations for Vertex AI agents.
• Design and operate personal and organizational agent memory, including retention, retrieval, conflict resolution, classification, and long-horizon state.
• Define personas as code, including versioning, review, composition, and deployment workflows.
• Curate atomic tools and higher-order skill compositions with clear contracts, registries, documentation, and quality standards.
• Design, build, and deploy flagship enterprise agents using Snowflake Cortex AI, Databricks AI, and orchestration frameworks.
• Establish enterprise standards for orchestration, prompts, tool use, conversational UX, response quality, escalation, and transparency.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, AI/ML, or advanced analytics, including 3+ years in NLP systems, AI agent development, or conversational AI.
• Hands-on production experience with AI agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or similar tools.
• Strong experience with Snowflake Cortex AI, Cortex Analyst, Cortex Search, and/or Databricks Agent Bricks, AI Functions, or Mosaic AI.
• Experience across the full AI stack: data preparation, prompt engineering, orchestration, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and production operations.
• Direct experience designing agent memory, session state, conversational retrieval, and supporting data models.
• Proven technical leadership, executive communication, and ability to translate business needs into AI solutions.

Nice to have

• Pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences experience, including clinical, regulatory, or commercial data.
• Experience designing reusable agent abstractions such as persona frameworks, skill registries, or tool catalogs.
• Familiarity with Braintrust, LangSmith, Mosaic AI Agent Evaluation, Arize, or Ragas.
• Experience with model fine-tuning, distillation, or post-training for domain adaptation.
