What you will do
- Own one or more accounts and drive integrated medical/scientific communication strategies (publication planning and communications tactics).
- Serve as a principal scientific contact for client stakeholders and clinical leads, aligning scientific strategy to brand priorities.
- Oversee scientific and content excellence across manuscripts, congress materials, training content, digital assets, and MLR-regulated materials.
- Conduct detailed scientific reviews for accuracy and stylistic consistency (AMA, client style guides, journal/congress guidelines) and ensure compliance with industry standards (GPP, ICMJE, PhRMA).
- Lead/defend submissions in MLR systems and resolve scientific issues independently.
- Manage 3–5 direct reports, set goals, run performance evaluations, identify training needs, and optimize scientific workflows and documentation discipline.
Requirements
- ~5+ years of medical communications/medical writing experience, including multi-asset or multi-account leadership and scientific team oversight.
- ~1+ years of people management and coaching experience.
- Advanced degree in a scientific or healthcare-related field preferred (e.g., MSc, PhD, PharmD, MD); relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree plus extensive experience may be considered.
- Strong scientific writing and editing skills, including mastery of publication standards when applicable.
- Strong understanding of clinical research and the regulatory landscape, with comfort guiding MLR submissions.
- Must be able to work remotely within the United States or Canada; occasional overnight travel up to ~20%.
