Commercial Analyst (Retail)

TL;DR

Commercial Analyst (Retail/Analytics): Analyzing stock exit and clearance performance to optimize margin recovery and reduce aged stock with an accent on data-driven insights for Trading and Supply Chain. Focus on building dashboards in Metabase, writing complex SQL queries, and evaluating pricing effectiveness.

Location: Hybrid (2 days per week in Nuneaton, UK)

What you will do

• Partner with Trading, Supply Chain, and Commercial Ops to identify stock exit challenges and improve clearance decisions.
• Build and maintain dashboards in Metabase to track exit performance, markdown effectiveness, and aged stock risk.
• Write SQL to perform deep-dive analyses of product, store, and channel-level clearance outcomes.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of pricing levers, discounting mechanics, and exit channel strategies.
• Collaborate with BI Developers and Pricing & Promotions teams to deliver data products.
• Contribute to sprint planning and backlog shaping for the Commercial Ops analytics roadmap.

Requirements

• Proficiency in SQL for querying, joining, and transforming data.
• 2–3 years of experience in analytics, preferably in commercial operations, pricing, or inventory analytics.
• Degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Engineering.
• Strong commercial awareness regarding pricing, lifecycles, and margin trade-offs.
• Ability to clearly communicate performance trends to commercial and supply chain stakeholders.
• Must be based in or able to commute to the Nuneaton office 2 days per week.
