What you will do

• Design and implement scalable Azure data architectures supporting BI, analytics, and operational systems.
• Build and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse.
• Develop internal data APIs and background workers using Python (FastAPI/Flask) on Azure Container Apps.
• Optimize T-SQL performance, including indexing strategies and query tuning across multiple SQL platforms.
• Ensure data integrity and security in strict compliance with HIPAA/HITRUST requirements for PHI data.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering or database development.
• Expert-level proficiency in T-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Python.
• Deep experience with Azure data services (SQL, Data Factory, Synapse, Blob Storage).
• Proven track record of building REST APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• Must be able to work within HIPAA/HITRUST compliance frameworks.

Nice to have

• Practical experience with FHIR, C-CDA, or HL7 v2 standards.
• Experience integrating with EHR/EMR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athena.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates).
• Microsoft certifications in Azure Data Engineering or Power BI.
• Proficiency with AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
