Staff Software Engineer, Simulation (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Remote within the United States; employees living within a 50-mile radius of Sunnyvale or Mountain View must report to the office three times per week. Relocation to the Bay Area may be eligible for benefits.

Salary: $160,200–$246,300 annually, plus bonus potential.

What you will do

• Architect large-scale test infrastructure and evaluation pipelines for autonomous vehicle simulation and software validation.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives integrating simulation evaluation products into development workflows and release decisions.
• Develop methodologies to measure the trustworthiness and effectiveness of simulation tests at scale.
• Drive technical roadmaps and integrate simulation technologies aligned with autonomous vehicle goals.
• Own evaluation metrics and KPIs, analyze trade-offs, and communicate results through interactive dashboards.
• Set architectural standards and best practices through design reviews and code reviews.

Requirements

• 7+ years of applied experience developing complex evaluation, simulation, or test frameworks.
• Production Python development experience, including unit testing, code review, performance trade-offs, and reliability practices.
• Proven technical leadership across multiple teams and experience influencing architecture decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including risk communication and stakeholder collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with autonomous driving, robotics, safety-critical validation, or large-scale simulation is valuable.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL, time-series data analysis, performance monitoring, and dashboarding tools such as Looker or Streamlit.
• Data-driven investigation of anomalies and systematic root-cause analysis.
