Test Automation Engineer

TL;DR

Test Automation Engineer (UAS): Maintain and expand an automated test framework for UAS platforms with an accent on replacing manual regression testing with repeatable pipelines. Focus on developing new features, translating manual test procedures into automated cases, and refactoring code for better performance and coverage.

Location: SLC, UT (Salt Lake City); ability to travel to test site multiple times per week required; must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR/EAR restrictions)

What you will do

• Maintain and expand automated test framework for UAS platforms.
• Develop and integrate new features as testing needs evolve.
• Translate manual test procedures into automated test cases.
• Review, refactor, and improve existing test code for readability, performance, and coverage.
• Collaborate with QA, engineering, development, and manufacturing teams on validation.
• Document test results, report defects, and support QA process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent; 1–3 years in software testing/development
• Eligible for FAA Part 107 certification
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR/EAR); no sponsorship
• Proficiency with Python, Bash scripting, REST APIs (curl/Postman).
• Exposure to Linux/embedded systems; familiarity with sUAS platforms.
• Defect tracking (Jira); ability to travel to test site multiple times/week; valid driver's license.
• Clear communication; attention to detail; outdoor work capability (lift 30 lbs).

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, robotics, UAS; PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink.
• Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence); TestRail; Agile/Scrum.
• FAA Drone Zone/LAANC knowledge; microcontrollers, networking, Android.
