What you will do

• Assemble, install, and calibrate custom electromechanical equipment and automated systems from 3D CAD models and schematics.
• Support rapid prototyping of test stands, fixtures, and experimental setups through mechanical assembly and fabrication.
• Perform electrical wiring, cable routing, and component mounting for automation panels and instruments.
• Collaborate with controls and software engineers to integrate, bring up, and debug automation subsystems.
• Execute maintenance, repairs, and alignments on complex research equipment.
• Provide design feedback to engineering teams and maintain detailed build documentation.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in electro-mechanical technology, mechatronics, or equivalent military/vocational training.
• Advanced skills in mechanical assembly, electrical diagnostics, and use of precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to interpret 3D CAD models, mechanical drawings, and 2D electrical schematics.
• Familiarity with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff), motor controllers, and industrial sensors.
• Knowledge of industry safety procedures including electrical code, LOTO, and OSHA.
• Location: Must be based in Cambridge, MA, USA.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD modeling platforms.
• Experience assembling control panels and wiring PLCs at the component level.
• 4+ years of experience in automation, robotics, or laboratory environments.
• Certifications such as CMRT or OSHA 10/30.
