ASL Activity Writer for High School Courses (ASL)

hirify.global, a Pearson Education company, publishes elective digital courseware and educational resources for high school students in North America.

What you will do

• Write ASL activities for digital high school curriculum and online courseware.
• Develop engaging receptive and expressive activities aligned with state curriculum and ACTFL standards.
• Create scripts for sign language instructional videos.
• Develop role-plays and assessment activities that help students build a foundation in ASL.
• Collaborate remotely with a larger curriculum development team and respond to feedback.

Requirements

• Recent experience teaching ASL at the high school, college, or community college level.
• Strong ability to teach and assess receptive and expressive ASL, with an understanding of Deaf culture.
• Fluency in ASL and proficiency in written English.
• Post-secondary degree in ASL.
• Ability to communicate language knowledge in writing and work to deadlines.
• Willingness to use MS Word, Dropbox, Smartsheet, Slack, and other technology applications.

• Remote freelance work as part of a larger curriculum development team.
• The engagement may require more than 5 hours per week.
• The contract is expected to continue for up to two years and be completed in 2028.
