Reliability Design Intern (Summer 2026)

TL;DR

Reliability Design Intern (Summer 2026): Work with the power engineering team to build and test flight hardware, design test equipment and prototype circuits for satellite systems with an accent on stressed condition validation and lab bringup. Focus on debugging designs, writing code for performance evaluation and test automation, and coordinating assembly, integration, and environmental tests.

Location: San Francisco, Northern California, USA. U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required (to comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations)

Base Hourly Pay: $29 USD

What you will do

• Work with the power engineering team to build and test flight hardware
• Design test equipment to validate designs across stressed conditions
• Design prototype circuits
• Bringup and debug designs in the lab
• Write code to evaluate performance and automate testing of satellite hardware
• Coordinate assembly, integration, and environmental test efforts

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in electrical or computer engineering (or equivalent technical degree)
• Interest in learning about, designing, and working with power electronics systems
• Passion for hardware development in a fast-paced environment with hands-on design
• Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch

Nice to have

• Experience with Altium Designer (or other PCB design software)
• Experience with SPICE-based simulators (LTSpice, PSPICE, ADS, etc)
• Comfortable with soldering and rework
• Familiarity with standard EE lab bench (power supply, oscilloscope, multimeter, etc)
• Familiarity with basic switched mode converter design (boost and buck converters)
• Experience with Python
