What you will do
- Co-develop the cell-biology research agenda, from problem formulation to large-scale training and integration.
- Architect the integration between cell-biology research and the central autonomous-science platform.
- Lead the technical choices for foundation models and integration architectures to enable mechanism-grounded scientific inference.
- Build agentic systems that plan and reason over scientific experiments to accelerate discovery.
- Design and steward benchmarks and evaluation methodologies for the cell-biology research programs.
- Translate complex biological questions into ML problems and represent the company at premier scientific venues.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, or a related quantitative field.
- Proven track record of impact at premier venues such as ICLR, ICML, NeurIPS, Nature, Science, or Cell.
- Deep expertise in large-scale generative/representation-learning models and integrating multiple specialist models.
- Experience with agentic, active-learning, or closed-loop systems coupled with laboratory infrastructure.
- Working fluency across cell-biology data modalities including single-cell omics, perturbation, spatial profiling, and imaging.
- Expertise in modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
Nice to have
- Experience composing specialist biology models into multi-step reasoning systems.
- Experience with Lab-in-the-Loop workflows.
- Experience with large-scale distributed training infrastructure.
- Contributions to open-source ML tools or benchmark datasets for scientific applications.
- Track record of recruiting and mentoring high-performing ML research talent.
