TL;DR

Staff Process Engineer (Wafer Lithography): Developing and scaling advanced lithography processes for next-generation AR optical waveguides with an accent on process development, yield improvement, and manufacturing scale-up. Focus on transitioning new technologies into high-volume production environments and leading root cause investigations in a cleanroom semiconductor environment.

Location: Fully onsite in Austin, TX. Relocation assistance is available for non-local candidates.

What you will do

  • Lead lithography process development, optimization, and sustainment for wafer-based manufacturing processes.
  • Drive process control, yield improvement, and tool performance using DOE, SPC, and data analysis.
  • Support the transfer of processes from R&D/NPI into high-volume production, including IQ, OQ, and PQ qualification.
  • Develop critical manufacturing documentation such as SOPs, work instructions, and control plans.
  • Lead root cause investigations using structured methodologies like Six Sigma and DMAIC.
  • Mentor engineers and technicians to ensure the scale-up of robust, production-ready processes.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in nanofabrication, wafer lithography, or semiconductor processing.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on cleanroom wafer processing experience within semiconductor or optical device manufacturing.
  • Strong proficiency in SPC, DOE, and process capability analysis.
  • Solid foundation in plasma physics and plasma-surface interactions.
  • Must be based in or able to relocate to Austin, TX for fully onsite work.

Nice to have

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with wafer-level optics, photonics, or advanced optical manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with JMP, statistical analysis tools, or process automation systems.
  • Metrology experience using SEM, TEM, or related characterization tools.
  • Six Sigma certification.
