Middle Application Support Engineer (AWS/Python): Supporting a global API-driven promotions platform for a major fast-food chain with an accent on system performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and cloud infrastructure maintenance. Focus on diagnosing root causes of application issues, optimizing cloud environments in AWS, and managing on-call incident response.

Location: Remote from Poland or Romania. Must work Eastern/Central US time zone for the first 6 months (onboarding), after which overlap can be reduced to 3-4 hours.

What you will do

• Provide advanced application support for the promotion platform to ensure optimal system performance and stability.
• Collaborate with development teams to diagnose and troubleshoot application-related issues and implement root-cause solutions.
• Monitor system health and conduct regular checks to proactively identify and resolve potential bottlenecks.
• Manage incident response for internal platforms and partner systems, contributing to detailed RCA reports and process improvements.
• Configure and maintain AWS cloud environments for application runtimes using automated scripts for deployment and scaling.
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation to support live promotions, project launches, and urgent production incidents.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience as a DevOps Engineer, Application Support Specialist, or Software Engineer.
• Proficiency in scripting languages: Python, Ruby, or Bash/Zsh.
• Strong understanding of HTTP & REST APIs and experience with testing tools like Postman or curl.
• Experience with AWS services (S3, Elasticache, Cloudfront) and security best practices.
• Proficiency with centralized logging systems such as Graylog or Loki for analyzing operational data.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes concepts and version control using GIT.

Nice to have

• Experience with system profiling, performance tuning, and JVM memory management/GC tuning.
• Ability to use Athena for ad-hoc support queries against data in S3 buckets.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, DynamoDB, Lambda, APIGateway, and Cognito.
• Experience with load testing high-performance distributed systems.
