Senior Software Engineer (Tech Foundations)

Location: Shanghai office, China; onsite role.

Riot Games develops player-focused online games, including League of Legends, and supporting technologies for large-scale game services.

What you will do

• Write maintainable backend code following engineering best practices.
• Build and operate scalable, reliable microservices for high-volume game services.
• Design and implement software that addresses China-specific requirements using Riot's standard technology stack.
• Develop tools and contribute to codebases across multiple programming languages and technology stacks.
• Participate in on-call support, live-service troubleshooting, code reviews, and deployment practices.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver high-quality products.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of hands-on programming experience in C/C++, Java, Go, or C#.
• Experience operating and maintaining live web services and troubleshooting production issues.
• Experience building fault-tolerant distributed systems, including requirements gathering, architecture design, project breakdown, and execution.
• Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Tencent Cloud.
• Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.

• Client game development experience.
