Senior Software Engineer (Gamedev)

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Tech Foundations): Design and implement core backend services and tools satisfying China-specific requirements for high-quality game services with an accent on microservices performance, reliability, and scalability. Focus on building fault-tolerant distributed systems, applying engineering best practices for testing and deployment, and collaborating with multiple internal and external teams.

Location: Onsite from Shanghai office. Must work from Shanghai office. Bilingual proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin) and English required.

What you will do

• Write high-quality code following Riot and industry best practices.
• Build and operate scalable microservices requiring high performance and reliability.
• Contribute to design and building of services across multiple languages and tech stacks.
• Develop and adopt tools for the team.
• Participate in on-call rotation and troubleshoot live issues.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams throughout the product lifecycle, including hands-on coding and code reviews.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years hands-on programming in C/C++, Java, Go, or C#.
• Experience operating live web services and troubleshooting issues.
• Experience developing fault-tolerant distributed systems from ground up, including architecture design and execution.
• Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Tencent Cloud).
• Strong communication skills and bilingual proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin) and English.

Nice to have

• Experience in client game development.
• Familiarity with building game content tools and pipelines.
