Network Engineering Intern (Networking)

TL;DR

Network Engineering Intern (Networking): Provisioning and configuring network hardware and software for a global edge network with an accent on BGP, routing, and hardware fault triage. Focus on operational infrastructure management, leveraging AI-enabled tooling to resolve production issues and expanding network capacity.

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid: 3 days per week in office)

Compensation: $45/hr

What you will do

• Provision and configure network hardware and software for global edge network capacity expansion.
• Monitor network health and investigate faults using AI-enabled troubleshooting tools.
• Triage and investigate network issues in collaboration with internal teams.
• Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge-base articles.
• Participate in structured troubleshooting sessions covering BGP, routing, and hardware faults.
• Support daily network operations via shift handoffs and incident tracking.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Networking, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Hold or be actively pursuing an industry networking certification (CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of BGP and the OSI model.
• Familiarity with Python, Bash, or using AI tools for network automation scripts.
• Ability to learn vendor operating systems and internal tooling quickly under guidance.
• Strong written communication skills for technical documentation.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Juniper, Cisco, or Arista operating systems.
• Understanding of anycast routing and large-scale traffic distribution.
• Experience with Linux system administration.
• Familiarity with optical transport technologies.
• Experience in a customer-facing technical support environment.
