TL;DR

Java Developer (Backend): Develop, maintain, and improve enterprise-grade backend applications using Java, support the migration of existing Python-based backend logic and processing pipelines into modern Java services with an accent on REST APIs, microservices architecture, and backend integrations. Focus on designing scalable solutions, ensuring high code quality through testing and optimization, and contributing to architecture discussions and continuous delivery.

Location: Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.

What you will do

  • Develop, maintain, and improve enterprise-grade backend applications using Java.
  • Support migration of legacy Python-based processing pipelines into modern Java services.
  • Design, build, and maintain REST APIs and backend integrations for frontend and business processes.
  • Contribute to microservices-based architecture and backend modernization.
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers and customer teams on scalable solutions.
  • Ensure code quality via reviews, automated testing, debugging, and performance optimization.

Requirements

  • Commercial experience as Backend Java Developer in enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and modern backend development.
  • Good understanding of REST APIs, microservices, backend integrations, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with MSSQL or relational databases, unit/integration testing.
  • Experience with CI/CD (preferably Azure DevOps), Git, and software best practices.
  • Strong communication skills in international environments; practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot).

Nice to have

  • Experience migrating legacy systems to Java platforms.
  • Knowledge of Python, Airflow, containerized environments, messaging systems, or event-driven architectures.
  • Exposure to sustainability/ESG applications or structured GenAI in SDLC.
