Compensation: $145,000 - $165,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and implement robust backend features using PHP with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Architect secure solutions for handling financial transactions and sensitive personal data.
• Lead the migration of core platform components from legacy systems into modern microservices.
• Conduct performance optimization and re-architect existing systems to meet modern standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive alignment on backend and frontend architecture.
• Mentor team members through pair programming and code reviews to elevate overall code quality.

Requirements

• 5+ years of PHP web application software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Docker and containerized development workflows.
• Expert knowledge of relational databases, indexing, and searching technologies.
• Strong understanding of security best practices for financial and personal data.
• Must be based in North America (NORAM).
• Business-level English fluency (verbal and written).

Nice to have

• Experience designing and building microservices or micro-frontends.
• Proficiency in PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP.
• Cloud infrastructure experience with Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, and Argo CD.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems like Kafka.
