Executive Director, AI Transformation & Strategy (Biopharma)

Location: Hybrid role based out of the Bridgewater, New Jersey office; remote work most of the time with in-person collaboration as needed. Approximately 20% domestic and international travel.

Salary: $255,000–$347,500 annual

What you will do

• Develop and steward the enterprise AI transformation strategy in alignment with corporate goals, patient needs, and competitive positioning.
• Partner with business, therapeutic-area, functional, data science, IT, and digital leaders to identify, prioritize, and activate high-value AI use cases.
• Embed AI into operating models, workflows, and decision-making while driving AI literacy, upskilling, and organizational change.
• Establish responsible AI governance covering model oversight, bias mitigation, transparency, data protection, and regulatory alignment.
• Represent the organization at AI in biopharma forums, conferences, and consortia while translating emerging trends into strategic recommendations.
• Own AI business cases, pilots, success metrics, portfolio prioritization, ROI tracking, and executive and Board-level reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree and at least 15 years of progressive business leadership experience in life sciences, including pharmaceuticals, biotech, medtech, CRO, or CDMO organizations.
• Deep knowledge of at least two major functional areas such as R&D, Commercial, Regulatory, or Operations.
• Experience leading complex, cross-functional strategic initiatives, including several AI-related initiatives, from concept through execution in matrixed organizations.
• Ability to evaluate emerging technologies through a business lens and hold vendors and internal teams accountable for outcomes; coding experience is not required.
• Strong communication and influence skills, with experience presenting to executive leadership and facilitating working sessions with operational teams.
• Strategic understanding of AI/ML, automation, predictive analytics, and relevant FDA, EMA, or other life-sciences regulatory guidance.

• Familiarity with FDA guidance on AI/ML in drug development or medical devices.
