TL;DR

Group Public Affairs Manager (Fintech): Developing and advocating for the Group’s positioning on UK and devolved government policy with an accent on financial inclusion, consumer finance, and financial empowerment. Focus on engaging with ministers, MPs, and civil servants to advocate for policy changes and providing strategic counsel to senior executives.

Location: Hybrid (UK). Must spend at least 40% of time at one of the office sites (Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol, Halifax, Leeds, or London) and conduct frequent in-person visits to Westminster.

Salary: Regional £61,344 - £68,160 | London £72,702 - £80,780

What you will do

  • Identify, develop and advocate for the Group’s positioning on UK and devolved government policy.
  • Represent the Group at external functions and meetings with government, MPs, local leaders, and civil servants.
  • Write concise political briefings for the Group Executive Committee and Board members.
  • Lead and coordinate responses to government consultations affecting the Group and its customers.
  • Monitor Parliamentary activity and political issues arising from main UK institutions.
  • Organise top-tier events with politicians and corporate partners.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Westminster politics, civil service, policy think tanks, or local government.
  • Knowledge of consumer finance, financial inclusion, and financial empowerment policy landscapes.
  • Proven ability to communicate authoritatively and persuasively with high-profile politicians and civil servants.
  • Ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data to aid the formulation of new policies.
  • Strategic thinking skills to assess long-term implications of policy proposals.
  • Must be able to work in a hybrid model in the UK.
