Location: Remote US-based from basecamps in Missoula/Bozeman MT, Austin TX, Denver CO, Kalispell MT, Minneapolis MN, Portland OR, Salt Lake City UT, Seattle WA. Bi-annual travel to corporate office required.
Salary: $94,000–$118,000

What you will do
- Own technical approach and delivery of geospatial work for Offroad vertical, including datasets and workflows for connected content.
- Execute audits, refreshes, and cleanup of high-impact datasets to ensure accuracy and long-term maintainability.
- Lead complex processing like data integration, conflation, and large-scale QA/QC, resolving edge cases.
- Use AI tools like Claude Code to automate workflows for feature extraction, segmentation, and classification.
- Analyze data, build dashboards, monitor metrics, and recommend data sources or pipeline improvements.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and team using Git for version control and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Geospatial Engineering, Computer Science, Geography or equivalent + 8+ years geospatial experience in datasets, transformation, deployment.
- Expert in QGIS, geoprocessing, SQL, BigQuery/PostGIS, spatial indexing, Python (GDAL, geopandas, PyQGIS).
- Experience with complex spatial pipelines, Git, collaborative workflows, and AI coding assistants.
- Familiarity with Offroad datasets (trails, roads, terrain, land ownership).
- Autonomous problem-solving, clear communication to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to travel bi-annually to corporate office or Basecamp.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in related field.
- Graph-based data systems, GeoParquet, micro-services, Airflow, Docker.
- Interest in off-road recreation and trail planning.
- Experience with distributed/remote teams.
