Sustainment Mechanical Engineer

TL;DR

Sustainment Mechanical Engineer: Ongoing support, improvement, and reliability of released mechanical and electromechanical products throughout their production lifecycle with an accent on mechanical design changes, quality and manufacturing issue resolution, and product performance maintenance. Focus on structural FEA, vibration and modal analysis, heat transfer analysis, and corrective actions for fielded and in-production systems.

What you will do

• Own mechanical sustainment for released products across production and fielded units
• Investigate and resolve quality, reliability, and manufacturing issues via root-cause analysis
• Develop engineering change orders (ECOs), product updates, and maintain configuration control
• Perform structural FEA, vibration/modal analysis, and thermal analysis for design changes and failures
• Design/update injection-molded and machined components, ensuring production readiness
• Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Test teams on issue resolution
• Maintain CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and PLM documentation; support production and suppliers

Requirements

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 3+ years supporting production and fielded mechanical products
• Demonstrated expertise in structural FEA, vibration/modal analysis, and thermal analysis
• Proven experience with injection molding design, tooling, and production constraints
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM, and PLM systems
• Experience with engineering change management, document control, FAI, and corrective actions
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence required (ITAR/EAR)
• Ability to lift 25 lbs, navigate facilities, use PPE; occasional off-hours work
