CAD Engineer

TL;DR

CAD Engineer (SolidWorks): Contribute to mechanical design, analysis, specification, testing, and validation of spacecrafts with an accent on managing CAD data, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings. Focus on designing parts, reviewing supplier drawings, harness routing, and supporting AIT activities.

What you will do

• Manage Solidworks software data, create templates and macros.
• Manage the main assembly of the Satellite CAD model including units, components, and structure.
• Design and prepare manufacturing drawings for parts and assemblies like connector brackets and capture system supports.
• Design preliminary harness routing and review supplier manufacturing drawings.
• Follow part procurements, perform incoming inspections, and support AIT activities including integration sequences and constraint identification.
• Participate in platform design and satellite layout meetings, provide CAD models in STEP and 3D PDF formats.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as CAD engineer on space systems.
• Familiarity with programming languages like Python, C++, or VBA.
• Good knowledge of SolidWorks modeling and CAD file management systems like SolidWorks PDM.
• Thorough understanding of design involvement in environmental tests planning, execution, and evaluation.
• Ability to demonstrate technical leadership and work in project teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with mechanical analysis tools like NASTRAN.
• Experience with thermal analysis tools like ESATAN-TMS.
• BSc/MSc in mechanical engineering or relevant discipline.
