Hardware Engineer (EMC, Design Verification)

Location: Karlsbad, Baden-Württemberg, Germany; flexible work from the office and remotely, with up to 10% travel.

What you will do

• Analyze normative requirements and OEM-specific automotive standards and derive test cases from system, hardware, and software requirements.
• Define EMC concepts and support schematic, PCB, and hardware design activities.
• Create test strategies, test plans, verification concepts, and configured laboratory environments.
• Perform manual and automated EMC, electrical, temperature, and functional verification tests using laboratory equipment and test benches.
• Evaluate measurements, identify malfunctions and risks, support root-cause analysis, and collaborate with developers on issue resolution.
• Document and present test results, manage traceability, participate in FMEAs and reviews, and improve testing methodologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification.
• At least 3 years of experience in EMC testing, validation processes, and measurement technologies.
• Hands-on experience with component, system, or software testing and familiarity with schematic/layout design and simulation environments.
• Strong verbal and written English skills.
• Analytical problem-solving, clear technical communication, and experience collaborating across engineering functions.
• Availability to work flexibly from the Karlsbad office and remotely; willingness to travel up to 10%.

Nice to have

• Experience with HFSS or other EMC simulation tools.
• At least 3 years of hardware development and verification experience with analog/digital applications and standalone functional units.
• Knowledge of automotive EMC requirements and telematics interfaces such as PCIe, UART, Ethernet, I2C, I2S, and USB.
• Experience with the NAD network simulator.
