TL;DR
Cyber Security Engineer: Design, build, and operate security controls across infrastructure and applications with an accent on IAM protocols, vulnerability management, and incident response. Location: Cambridge, UK (hybrid, 2 days per week in office initially, able to travel to office safely in a day)
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000

What you will do
- Design, build, and operate security controls across cloud/physical infrastructure and applications
- Investigate security issues hands-on, including outside office hours when critical
- Collaborate with engineers and business teams to enable secure delivery
- Work with commercial teams to assure customers of secure product deployment
- Assess risks, onboard vendors, and fix vulnerabilities across the organization
Requirements
- Hands-on security engineering or operations experience
- Strong IAM knowledge at protocol level (OAuth 2.0, SAML, OIDC) with debugging experience
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (ideally Terraform) and automation
- Familiarity with secure SDLC, version control, and peer review
- Practical vulnerability management, judging real-world risks
- Incident response experience including investigation and remediation
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, and KQL
- Background in sysadmin or engineering for system failure intuition
Nice to have
- Experience conducting vendor security reviews and third-party risk assessments
- Comfortable using AI tools daily
- Strong communication with technical and non-technical audiences
