TL;DR
Lead Software Engineer (Search): Designing and implementing scalable, high-performance eCommerce search platforms for aftermarket parts and services with an accent on NLP, vector search, and personalization. Focus on defining long-term technical strategy, optimizing search relevance via ML, and building low-latency APIs in AWS.
Location: Must be based in or be able to relocate to Chicago, Peoria, or Irving, USA

What you will do
- Define and implement a long-term technical vision for the search platform to ensure scalability and adaptability.
- Mentor and guide a team of search engineers through technical reviews and collaborative problem-solving.
- Introduce advanced capabilities such as NLP, vector search, and personalization to enhance accuracy.
- Build search capabilities with measurable KPIs and leverage analytics to improve performance.
- Partner with product managers and data scientists to align search initiatives with business objectives.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in search engineering.
- 3+ years in a technical leadership role (Lead, Architect, or Engineering Manager).
- Proficiency in Java, Python, or Scala and experience with source control tools.
- Experience with Search products such as OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, SOLR, Lucene, Coveo, or LucidWorks Fusion.
- Proven experience building large-scale, highly available distributed systems.
- Relocation is available; Visa sponsorship is available for eligible applicants.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field.
- Experience building low-latency APIs in AWS using memory-storage solutions.
- Working experience with heavy equipment engineering or data analysis.
- Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks for evaluating search improvements.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
