Process Engineer (Chemical Engineering)

Starting base pay: $121,000–$152,000 per year

What you will do

• Design new chemical processes and optimize existing unit operations to improve efficiency, safety, product quality, and material yield.
• Provide process engineering support for rotating equipment, including pumps and compressors; monitor performance, troubleshoot failures, and implement reliability improvements with Maintenance and Reliability teams.
• Monitor operations and analyze high-volume process data, including Seeq data, to identify trends and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead investigations into operational problems, process deviations, and equipment malfunctions to maintain continuous production.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses and ensure processes and equipment comply with safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Lead process improvement and new technology projects, coordinating with engineering, automation, operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles and unit operations such as reactors, heat exchangers, and material handling.
• Expertise in chemical plant equipment, particularly rotating equipment.
• Experience in a chemical plant or high-volume manufacturing environment working directly with process equipment and control systems.
• Proficiency with Google and Microsoft applications, process control systems such as DCS and PLC, and data analysis tools.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and data-analysis skills, including the ability to interpret complex data and conduct process capability studies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting findings, writing procedures, and collaborating with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, manage resources, and execute technical projects to completion.
• Ability to move items weighing up to 50 lbs with lift equipment and carts, walk long distances, remain stationary for extended periods, reach low shelves or floor-level items, climb stairs or containment walls, and operate office equipment.
