TL;DR

Oracle Database Application Support Team Lead (Oracle): Leading hands-on support for 100+ customer Oracle Database environments across on-premises, private, and public clouds with an accent on upgrades, patching, diagnostics, and performance tuning. Focus on resolving complex incidents, implementing automation, and mentoring the team while engaging directly with public sector customers.

Location: Remote or hybrid, subject to UK location; requires pre-existing right to work and travel in the UK plus eligibility for UK Security Clearance.

What you will do

  • Perform hands-on Oracle Database administration, upgrades, patching, and deployments in customer environments.
  • Lead 3rd-line diagnostics, fault resolution, performance tuning, and proactive monitoring.
  • Maintain backup/recovery solutions and conduct root cause analysis for major incidents.
  • Mentor team, set technical standards, review changes, and provide escalation support.
  • Engage with customers to manage priorities, explain issues, and recommend improvements.
  • Drive automation, scripted maintenance, and cross-team collaboration for efficiency.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on Oracle Database administration including upgrades and patching (single-instance)
  • Experience supporting local government customers using Revenues & Benefits or Housing solutions
  • Installing/supporting software on Linux/Solaris (Windows bonus)
  • Hands-on deployment/support of Apache Tomcat-based applications
  • Production support in live environments using ITSM tools (Ivanti, ServiceNow)
  • Eligibility for UK Security Clearance and right to work/travel in UK
  • Strong customer communication skills
