TL;DR

Lead Hardware Design Engineer (GaN/SiC): Deliver complex hardware solutions for the qualification and characterisation of wide-bandgap semiconductor devices with an accent on analogue and digital power electronics design, microcontroller programming, and VHDL. Focus on designing circuits, developing bench-top systems for early-stage product assessment, leading firmware and software activities, and mentoring junior engineers.

What you will do

  • Deliver complex hardware solutions for qualification and characterisation of wide-bandgap devices including GaN, SiC, and IGBT.
  • Collaborate with project managers and technical leaders to define design specifications from stakeholder requirements.
  • Evaluate and implement off-the-shelf solutions for product qualification.
  • Lead hardware, firmware, and software development across projects.
  • Design analogue and digital circuits and develop bench-top systems for performance assessment.
  • Communicate progress to stakeholders and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent with proven hardware design experience.
  • Strong knowledge of power semiconductor devices (GaN, SiC, IGBT, MOSFETs) and their performance characteristics.
  • Hands-on experience in analogue and digital power electronics design.
  • Experience programming microcontrollers (ARM, ST, TI, PIC) and VHDL.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools like LTspice or Simulink.
  • Full hardware product lifecycle experience from concept to validation.
  • Strong specification writing and CAD PCB design skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience in semiconductor laboratory environments like reliability testing.
  • Familiarity with automotive qualification standards (HTRB, HTGB, H3TRB, IOL, HAST/UHAST).
  • Experience with Python and LabVIEW.
