TL;DR

Project HSE Manager (Energy Storage): Leading and managing all Health, Safety, and Environment components of a BESS delivery project in NSW with an accent on HSE management systems and regulatory compliance. Location: Site based in Tomago, NSW, Australia (4 days in office)

What you will do

  • Develop, implement, and lead project-specific HSE management systems and risk management strategies.
  • Identify and deliver WHS improvement initiatives, including incident prevention and risk reduction.
  • Ensure competence, training, and development requirements are met for all safety-critical roles.
  • Implement HSE monitoring systems and lead incident investigations using ICAM, TapRooT, or 8D.
  • Collaborate with the Environment Manager to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and client standards.
  • Coach, mentor, and manage the project HSE team, including two HSE Advisors.

Requirements

  • Must be based in or have the right to work in Australia (specifically NSW/Tomago).
  • Tertiary qualification in WHS/OHS (Advanced Diploma or equivalent).
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in energy, construction, civil, rail, or mining industries.
  • Proven experience as a Principal Contractor and prior people/functional management experience.
  • Lead Auditor certification for ISO 9001, ISO 45001/AS 4801, and ISO 14001.
  • Advanced communication, report writing, and senior stakeholder management skills.
