Director of Product Design – Payments (Payments/Fintech): Defining the design strategy and leading end-to-end experiences for Airwallex’s global payments platform with an accent on complex financial workflows, risk and compliance, and data-rich interfaces. Focus on building scalable design systems, leading senior designers across London and Singapore, and designing payment experiences, APIs, and workflows across web and mobile.
Location: London, United Kingdom. Hybrid work model with collaboration in-office and remotely across regions.

What you will do
- Define the design strategy for payments, accounts, transfers, e-commerce, point-of-sale, one-click checkout, and risk and compliance experiences.
- Lead end-to-end experience design across research, object modeling, interaction design, testing, and UI design.
- Set a high quality bar for complex, data-rich interfaces across desktop, mobile web, and native mobile apps.
- Drive research, experimentation, and product analytics to understand customer behavior and measure impact.
- Lead and develop senior and staff-level product designers across the London and Singapore studios.
- Build effective collaboration practices with product managers, engineers, risk teams, and the design systems team.
Requirements
- 12+ years of product or UX design experience, including work on complex, system-heavy products.
- 4+ years leading designers, including senior designers or design managers.
- Experience with online payments, risk and compliance, or adjacent financial products.
- Deep expertise in interaction design, information architecture, complex workflows, data-heavy products, and systems thinking.
- Ability to set vision, align stakeholders, lead multi-quarter initiatives, and communicate complex financial and technical concepts clearly.
- Experience using user research, quantitative analysis, experimentation, and product analytics to inform decisions.
Nice to have
- Experience with API products and developer-facing experiences.
- Degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field.
