Junior Software Engineer

TL;DR

Junior Software Engineer: Carries out basic work to support the transformation of requirements and architecture to complete design, translates detailed design into computer software, tests, debugs, and refines it. Focus on assuring consistency, enhancing efficiency, and preparing documentation for reliable government IT solutions.

Location: Ashburn, VA. Eligibility to obtain U.S. Customs and Border Protection suitability required (U.S. Citizenship, clear criminal history, no recent or pending bankruptcies)

What you will do

• Support transformation of requirements and architecture to complete design.
• Translate detailed design into computer software.
• Test, debug, and refine software to produce required products.
• Prepare program-level and user-level documentation.
• Enhance software to improve efficiency and reduce operating time.
• Follow reliability and maintainability policies to minimize life cycle costs.

Requirements

• Eligibility to obtain U.S. Customs and Border Protection suitability (U.S. Citizenship, clear criminal history check, no recent or pending bankruptcies)
• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required
• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with databases, internet technologies, web applications, and e-business systems and interfaces
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, SQL, and Java
