TL;DR

Location: Onsite in Dexter, Michigan, USA (requires working onsite 4 days a week) with 20% travel to Grand Rapids, MI

What you will do

  • Lead automation opportunities from concept through FAT, validation, and production deployment.
  • Architect and program scalable, robust PLC-based automation systems.
  • Own robot–PLC communication strategies, including interfaces, handshakes, and safety interlocks.
  • Provide technical leadership in robot programming and automation software development.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize automation systems to improve uptime, throughput, quality, and reliability.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years with an advanced degree.
  • Must be based in or able to work onsite in Dexter, Michigan.
  • Willingness to travel 20% to Grand Rapids, MI.
  • Valid U.S. work authorization (sponsorship available for Principal-level roles).

Nice to have

  • Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting (structured text, ladder, HMI).
  • Experience with equipment and software validation in regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Background in medical robotics or equivalent industries such as defense or automotive.
  • Experience in vendor accountability and technical leadership.
