Systems Engineer III – Border and Coastal Surveillance (National Security)

TL;DR

Systems Engineer III (National Security): Designing and integrating border and coastal surveillance systems with an accent on RF communications, radar, and network architecture. Focus on conducting site surveys, developing technical documentation, and deploying C2 systems for international missions.

Location: Hybrid and Onsite options in San Diego, CA. Must be a US Citizen and hold/be able to obtain an active U.S. national security clearance.

Salary: $125,000 - $175,000 per year

What you will do

• Conduct site surveys and evaluate requirements to determine optimal system architecture.
• Perform Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and recommend specific technologies and OEM equipment.
• Develop detailed designs, including viewshed analysis, network mapping, and frequency spectrum allocation.
• Create CDRL documentation, architecture reports, and test plans.
• Test and troubleshoot surveillance systems and develop training materials for end users.
• Collaborate with software and platform engineers to develop Command and Control (C2) systems.

Requirements

• US Citizenship and an active U.S. national security clearance (or ability to obtain one) are mandatory.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience with COTS border and coastal surveillance technologies.
• Expertise in RF communications, wireless networks, and network planning software tools.
• Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 20%) to austere locations in Africa, Eastern Europe, and Asia.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Radar, EO/IR cameras, and AIS.
• Experience with LTE, Microwave, HF/VHF/UHF, and SATCOM.
• Familiarity with Tactical Data Links and Common Operational Picture (COP) software.
