Senior Fullstack Developer (Backend) (Python/C++/USV Autonomy): Building and integrating backend services for Uncrewed Surface Vessel autonomy and mission software platform with an accent on real-time networking, distributed systems integration, and simulation. Location: Remote (United States). US Citizen required; must qualify for and maintain U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL).

Salary: 100,000 - 150,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Deliver integrated USV concept demonstrations for mission monitoring, route execution, vehicle health, operator oversight, and simulation-backed workflows.
• Connect backend services to simulation, replay, and vessel systems for realistic telemetry, state transitions, faults, and events.
• Develop Python services, adapters, and tooling for data translation, automation, replay, and simulation integration.
• Implement real-time interfaces including REST APIs, WebSockets, TCP/UDP, streaming pipelines, and pub/sub patterns.
• Design inter-service communication, message routing, high-rate telemetry handling, and troubleshoot distributed systems issues.
• Contribute to C++ components for performance, hardware interaction, and mixed-language integrations; support Docker/Kubernetes deployments and testing.

Requirements

• US Citizen eligible for U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL).
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Strong Python for backend services, networking, and automation.
• Experience with real-time integration: WebSockets, REST, TCP/UDP, streaming, pub/sub.
• Working knowledge of C++ for integration and performance components.
• Docker and Docker Compose experience; Kubernetes familiarity.
• Strong debugging across backend, networking, and distributed systems; ability to work across software stack layers.

Nice to have

• Distributed messaging: Redis/Valkey pub/sub, DDS, MQTT, Kafka.
• Simulation, replay, or telemetry-heavy systems.
• Autonomy, robotics, or maritime/USV concepts; GPS, IMU, AIS, radar, NMEA data.
• Svelte/SvelteKit or modern frontend frameworks.
• Map, geo, or operational interfaces.
