TL;DR

Software Developer (NASA): Develop and support tools for NASA's Common Metadata Repository (CMR) in EOSDIS with an accent on operations, design, automated testing, and scalable architecture. Focus on building innovative features for earth science data discovery, transformation, and quality improvement in an Agile environment.

Location: Remote, based out of Annapolis, MD with quarterly travel for PI Planning. U.S. Citizenship is required. Clearance: National Agency Clearance with Inquires (NACI) screening.

What you will do

• Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from user story generation through design, development, automated testing, and operational support.
• Develop new feature ideas to meet evolving end-user needs for earth science data tools.
• Support deployment of product updates, identify production issues, and construct scalable architecture.
• Share ideas and best practices to help the team grow and suggest process improvements for efficiency.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python, Clojure, Node.JS
• Demonstrable knowledge of git
• In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), including networking and serverless services
• Good understanding of caching services like Redis
• Ability to work with containerization and orchestration tools
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field + 3 years software development experience
• U.S. Citizenship and NACI clearance

Nice to have

• Knowledge of GraphQL, ElasticSearch, or Lucene-based search products
• Knowledge of AWS Cloudwatch
• Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
• Full lifecycle experience on large n-tier client/server applications
• AWS Solutions Architect or Developer certifications
