TL;DR
Lead Developer / Software Architect (Java/AWS): Designing and owning the technical vision for a cloud-native billing platform for Corporate & FI customers with an accent on modular architecture and API-first design. Focus on implementing spec-driven development, integrating AI-augmented tools, and orchestrating deployments on Kubernetes and AWS.
Location: Must be based in Austria (Work-from-home options available; up to 30 days remote work from any EU country per year)
Salary: Starting at EUR 90,000 gross p.a.

What you will do
- Own the technical vision and system architecture for a cloud-native billing platform, designing clear module boundaries.
- Lead a small engineering squad and collaborate closely with BAs, QA, and DevOps.
- Perform hands-on development in Java Spring and design REST APIs using OpenAPI specifications.
- Drive Spec-driven Development workflows (SpecKit/bMAD) and introduce AI-assisted tools for generation.
- Define and enforce CI/CD, observability, security, and performance patterns for AWS and Kubernetes.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor team members, and coordinate architecture sessions with stakeholders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience, with 3+ years as a technical lead or software architect.
- Strong expertise in Java Spring, REST/OpenAPI design, PostgreSQL, and cloud-native patterns.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and CI/CD toolchains (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD).
- Familiarity with Angular and database design/performance tuning.
- Fluent English (spoken and written); German is a plus.
- University degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
Nice to have
- Experience with spec-driven development tools like SpecKit or bMAD.
- Proven experience designing secure, performant systems in regulated environments (banking, payments, or billing).
