Forward Deployment Engineer (Healthcare AI)

TL;DR

Forward Deployment Engineer (Python/Healthcare): Bridging healthcare data systems with a clinical AI platform with an accent on healthcare interoperability and system design. Focus on building reliable integrations using HL7 v2, FHIR, and RESTful APIs to enable AI models to work at scale.

Location: Onsite in York, PA (five days per week at client site) with occasional travel to Palo Alto, CA

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain healthcare data integrations using Python, HL7 v2, FHIR, REST APIs, and SQL.
• Translate product and delivery requirements into scalable, testable integration flows.
• Coordinate with offshore engineering teams on implementation, review, and QA.
• Monitor and optimize live integration performance to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
• Develop reusable components and integration templates to improve delivery efficiency.
• Lead root-cause analysis and troubleshoot production issues to ensure smooth resolution.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in healthcare integration or interoperability engineering.
• Strong expertise in HL7 v2, FHIR, and X12 standards.
• Hands-on experience with Python and at least one integration engine (e.g., Mirth, Rhapsody, InterSystems IRIS, or Redox).
• Proficiency with RESTful APIs, JSON, and SQL.
• Must be based in or able to work onsite in York, PA.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with EHR APIs such as Epic, Cerner, or AthenaOne.
• Knowledge of FHIR bulk data workflows.
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, or cloud-based deployment pipelines.
• Background in AI/ML data pipelines or healthcare analytics.
