About the Role

You will build and own critical backend systems in TypeScript that power payments, balances, settlement, and reconciliation. You will design money movement flows with strong guarantees around idempotency, consistency, and failure recovery. You will define system boundaries, data models, operational strategy, and runbooks, improve testing and observability, handle edge cases such as retries and chargebacks, and mentor other engineers while driving technical clarity.

Requirements

• Senior hands-on backend engineering experience
• Deep experience building backend services in TypeScript (Node.js)
• Proven track record shipping and owning production systems
• Experience taking systems from zero to one and scaling them
• Solid experience building payments, ledgering, or financial infrastructure
• Strong judgment around tradeoffs between speed, safety, abstraction, and control
• Experience designing event-driven systems, queues, workflows, and asynchronous processing
• Familiarity with stablecoins, custody, settlement, and blockchain transaction lifecycles
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical decisions

Responsibilities

• Build and own critical TypeScript backend systems for payments, balances, settlement, and reconciliation
• Design reliable money movement flows ensuring idempotency, consistency, and failure recovery
• Lead payments technical architecture including system boundaries and data models
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and infrastructure to ship financial primitives
• Define handling for edge cases including partial failures, retries, timeouts, reversals, and chargebacks
• Improve engineering quality through code standards, testing strategy, monitoring, and incident response
• Mentor engineers and drive technical clarity across the payments domain
