TL;DR

Pixel Artist (2D / 3D Stylized Games | Unity3D): Create high-quality in-game pixel art assets including characters, props, environments, and animations for a modern Unity-based 3D / 2.5D pipeline with an accent on combining traditional 2D pixel art with 3D scenes. Focus on production-ready assets, in-engine implementation, hybrid 2D/3D workflows, and maintaining visual standards like palettes and pixel density.

What you will do

  • Create production-ready pixel art assets for characters, props, environments, gameplay objects, tiles, textures, trims, and animations
  • Prepare and implement assets in Unity including scale, filtering, pivots, sorting, sprite atlases, tilemaps, materials, and in-engine polish
  • Work on hybrid 2D/3D scenes defining how pixel art integrates into real-time worlds
  • Create pixel textures and surface treatments for props, environments, and modular assets
  • Explore pixel art techniques like limited palettes, dithering, and low-resolution textures
  • Define and maintain pixel art standards for palette rules, pixel density, and asset organization

Requirements

  • Strong pixel art portfolio focused on game assets, characters, environments, animation, textures, or stylized world-building
  • Senior-level experience with Aseprite, Photoshop, Pyxel Edit, or similar tools
  • Hands-on Unity experience with 2D workflows: sprites, atlases, tilemaps, animation, pivots, sorting layers, materials, scene setup
  • Understanding of pixel art fundamentals: silhouette, color, contrast, rhythm, shape language, readability, animation timing
  • Experience creating assets for at least one real-time game project
  • Ability to create clean, organized, production-ready files
  • Clear written English and comfort in fully remote, async environment

  • Experience with 2.5D or 3D pixel art workflows
  • Applying pixel art textures to 3D assets
  • Substance Designer for stylized materials
  • Tile sets, trim sheets, modular environments, world-building kits
  • UVs, texture mapping, filtering, compression, pixel density
  • Unity Shader Graph basics for pixelation, stylized materials
  • Light C# scripting
  • MagicaVoxel, Blockbench, Blender, or voxel tools
  • Mobile or performance-constrained platforms
