Senior/Staff Machine Learning Engineer (AI): Build and own ML and LLM-driven systems powering automation and decision-making across onboarding, risk, compliance, and operations with an accent on fraud detection, growth, and real-world data challenges. Focus on designing models, feature engineering from noisy data, optimizing performance tradeoffs, and integrating with backend pipelines.

Location: 100% remote within Americas and Europe only, with offices in SF, NYC, and Columbus

Salary: $150K–$250K + equity

What you will do

• Design, build, and iterate ML models and LLM systems for fraud, compliance, growth, and operations
• Work with real-world data to build features and improve model performance
• Balance model performance, interpretability, and operational costs
• Collaborate with product and operations to solve client-impacting problems
• Contribute to backend systems and data pipelines for training and inference
• Write tested code, participate in reviews, and own scaling systems

Requirements

• 4+ years building and applying ML models in production or equivalent research
• Strong practical ML intuition and tradeoffs
• Experience with noisy, imbalanced real-world data
• Ownership of ambiguous problems with focus on reliability and risk
• Ability to bridge technical and business needs

Nice to have

• Experience in fraud/risk, fintech, or high-signal domains
• Tabular ML and feature engineering workflows
• LLM or applied AI use cases
