What you will do

• Lead the technical vision and architectural direction across complex backend systems to ensure scalability and reliability.
• Partner with engineering leadership to define coding standards and long-term technical strategy.
• Design and develop production-grade software using Python, Django, Cloud Firestore, BigQuery, and Elasticsearch.
• Mentor and guide engineers at all levels, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Collaborate with product, data, and design teams to deliver innovative customer-facing solutions.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to improve system performance and developer productivity.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3+ years of experience in backend development, including time in a senior or principal-level role.
• Expertise in Python and proven experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and microservices at scale.
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
• Must be based in the UK and able to attend occasional office days in London.
